Eric Is Forthright, Plays No Games Oct 14, 2023

I came to work with Attorney Eric Schweitzer through a referral from another firm in Fresno. The nature of my case, in other attorneys' opinions, was not only unwinnable, but many barely looked at the documents or assumed there was a particular statute (1203.4 - which does not restore firearms possession) in play and therefore declined to even look into the matter for me, stating my firearms rights would only be reinstated with a pardon. Obviously, I disagreed. Please note, I have been fighting this issue with the CA DOJ and the FBI since 2019 when I was originally denied a firearm purchase. The original dismissal dates back to 1997. When I contacted Eric, he requested copies of all of my documents and scheduled a Zoom call (I live in MI) to review everything and talk with me. On our call, which, by the way, he took time to do on a Saturday because of my work schedule and three-hour time difference, something I appreciated immensely. Within five minutes of reviewing my documents, he realized (with a rather excited exclamation) this was a PC1385 dismissal. Eric had stated that this would be an easy fix (and the fee to handle this was more than reasonable. I was expecting it to be more than what was stated. BONUS). Eric stated that all that was needed was to file a motion to correct the original dismissal (the original clerk didn't mark the box "dismissed in the furtherance of justice") in 1997 to reflect it was dismissed pursuant to PC1385 (which restores all firearms rights). While my presence in CA was not needed, I chose to go and be present for the hearing. On the court date, Eric and I met at the courthouse, chatted about the case and what to expect. Eric's confidence, knowledge of the law, and explanation of his relationship with the court presiding judge was very reassuring, especially with the angst I was experiencing at the time. Our case was called, a couple of minutes of conversation with the judge to make sure we were all on the same page, then my motion was granted. Furthermore, due to the nature of the motion written by Eric, the judge not only stated that all of my civil rights were fully restored, he went one step further and said this includes the right to own and possess firearms, effective **-**-1997, the date of the original dismissal. A thousand-pound weight instantly fell off. Moreover, a sense of elation and respect for the judge was experienced when he made it clear all civil rights were restored. This was again due because of the motion that was drafted by Eric. I was highly impressed with how thorough and concise the motion was when I received a copy. Eric is an attorney who epitomizes walking softly and carrying a big stick. He knows what he is doing and is obviously very good at what he does. Eric is forthright, plays no games, nor engages in any deception. He's matter of fact, confident, as noted, and very thorough, also as noted. I cannot begin to close without mentioning Eric's staff, Annie and Laticia. What incredible women they are. They are the heroes in the background that make everything run like a well-oiled machine. Annie and Laticia were not only very helpful with any questions I had, they were also very understanding of the angst and anxiety I was experiencing throughout this process. Their responses to emails and/or returning of phone calls was much faster and much more thorough than expected. Thank you, ladies. So, in closing, whatever legal issue you may be experiencing, especially civil rights restoration, Eric and his team will take exceptional care of you. Eric, Annie and Laticia, Thank you!

I am rewriting my review of Eric Schweitzer due to the lengths this man went to fight for me and the issue he not only resolved, but went back to work on when we were thrown a curveball we never could have imagined would be thrown. The nature of my case was, in the opinion of every attorney I spoke with in Fresno, nothing could be done. The one attorney I spoke with that could see the light felt this would be a case he would be in over his head with and referred me to Eric. His honesty and hearty approbations of Eric were genuine, sincere, and greatly appreciated. I was considering giving up. But, as I am a fighter, giving up is not an option. I found Eric to be a kindred spirit in this manner of thinking and action. When I contacted Eric, he reviewed all of my documents during our Zoom call; a call he took the time to do on a Saturday because of my work schedule and three-hour time difference; something I appreciated immensely. After about 10 minutes or so of reviewing documents and asking some pertinent questions, he realized and stated with exuberant enthusiasm what I had known all along, this was a PC1385 dismissal. The issue that had caused me grief over the past 4 years? A clerical error. The clerk had failed to note the documents correctly when the dismissal was ordered in 1997. Eric had stated that this would be an easy fix; all that was needed was a motion to correct be filed. It was at this point I knew my gut was right. Eric is no ordinary attorney. He is smart, exceptionally knowledgeable of not only gun laws but CA laws as well. Eric, in my opinion, likes a challenge. He is direct, honest, and to the point. Moreover, Eric will step up and do what is needed; not only because it is the right thing to do, but because his commitment to fighting for you doesn't know the meaning of the word quit. And when faced with opposition, this man kicks into high gear and comes back with what is needed in the way it is needed. All are excellent qualities in my opinion. Due to the importance of this case to me, I flew to Fresno to be present for the hearing. Just as Eric had promised, in and out in 10 minutes. Motion approved. Case was officially dismissed and all civil rights ordered restored effective the date of the original dismissal in 1997. Then, in January of this year, the curveball came. Eric did what Eric does, he stepped up, did what needed to be done. Eric met with the judge in June, successfully re-argued my case and we were back to where we were in our original success. This time though, the win was accomplished in such a way, it was even better than the first. Something I found to be a major accomplishment, and more importantly, a total blessing. Eric is an attorney who epitomizes walking softly and carrying a big stick. He knows what he is doing and is obviously very good at what he does. Eric is forthright, plays no games, matter of fact, confident, and very thorough. I cannot begin to close without mentioning Eric's staff, Annie and Leticia. What incredible women they are. They are the heroes in the background that make everything run like a well-oiled machine that allows Eric to do what he does best, fight for you. When I had questions or concerns, Annie and Leticia were not only very helpful with any questions I had, whatever concern I had, they listened and understood. So, as I begin to close, regardless if the issue is fresh and you need someone in your corner, what you're dealing with is severe, complex, convoluted, or somewhere in between, please don't give up the fight. Get Eric in your corner. He and his team will not only shoot straight with you, he will not give you any unrealistic expectations. In closing, I had to leave the best part for last. Eric loves to win. Period. So, regardless of the position you're in, or what you're facing, let Eric and his team take the wheel and get you across the finish line. You won't regret it.
