23-year-old man charged with felony possession of a weapon

Any criminal case that involves the alleged use of a firearm is going to be a serious matter. Most of the time firearm-related charges are felonies and, as a result, they come with the potential for severe penalties, including a potential prison sentence. For one man who was arrested recently near the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, this will be the reality he must face unless he plans out a solid criminal defense strategy.

According to reports, law enforcement officials were dispatched on June 12 when they received reports of an individual allegedly making threats toward another person while armed with a handgun. Upon their arrival on the scene, police officers reportedly noticed a 23-year-old man who fit the description they received. From there, the situation got worse.

The suspect allegedly ran from the police officers as they were approaching him to conduct their investigation. As the suspect attempted to flee he reportedly threw away a .38-caliber handgun, which was subsequently recovered by law enforcement officials. The suspect was eventually apprehended. Now, the 23-year-old man is facing a slew of firearms-related charges, including possession of a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed firearm in public and resisting law enforcement. The reports indicate that all of the charges that were filed against the suspect are felonies.

Facing criminal allegations that are related to firearms can be difficult for any defendant. However, when facing a felony charge, every effort needs to be made to craft a criminal defense strategy that will result in the best outcome.
